So, first the flooring project came to a screeching halt when we got the boys back from my parents on Sunday evening. And since our bathroom is still torn up, the boys are having to share their rooms to store all of our stuff from Nathan’s desk, our closet, and bathroom and having to share their shower with the both of us. It’s all a big mess!
Then Evan got sick. It may be allergies since he’s had no fever and the drainage has been clear. But boy has he been gross, coughy, and cranky! Watery eyes, runny nose, and drool make my beautiful little baby very hideous.
And Ben had a really bad day at school. Defiant and mean, Ms. Bowen had to call home after taking away his self-manager badge. I was so embarrassed.
My cell phone’s not working. Who knows what messages I’m missing out on since I can’t hear a thing from my speaker. And I have no idea how to check voicemail from another phone.
The gorgeous new 30″ widescreen monitor I bought for myself doesn’t work with my current video card. Since I had to use my Dell account to afford the monitor, I have no idea how I’ll pay for a new video card. I’m broke!
And all the work that Nathan and I need to be doing for our jobs? We’re both backed up… and exhausted.
SO ready for the weekend!

When we bought our house six years ago, we knew we planned on replacing the floors. What we didn’t know was that it would take us this long to get to the big project. But the Carpetus Hideous Greenus is FINALLY taking a hike!
Week One- moved all of our furniture and junk out of our bedroom and bathroom and into other parts of the house; ripped up the carpet and vinyl flooring; prepared the floors; completed the bedroom
Week Two- Nathan worked hard to try to finish the bathroom, but the finishing touches are still undone and toilet is still in the back yard
Week Three- moved furniture out of Ben’s bedroom; ripped up carpet; prepared flooring; finished the room!
Week Four- Nathan finished our bathroom; we finally got our toilet back!
Week Five- moved Evan’s furniture out; ripped up his carpeting; laminate in; DONE!!!!!

This past week we got some quality-time with Ben while he was off from school. We played games, put together puzzles, played in the backyard, and even set him up on Yahoo! messenger so he could visit with us and family from his “LT” (that’s the nickname he and Papa Bobby gave his laptop).
We spent a great afternoon at Fiesta Texas with friend Madison. The park was still decorated and all lit up for Christmas (it was beautiful!). They had a snow hill set up for us to go sledding (WWWHHHEEEEEEEEEE!). And we rode ride after ride, ending the evening with a thrill (the Roadrunner Express roller coaster).
Then we got to visit with friends Michelle and Alex who were in town for the weekend. Yesterday the boys played, we visited, and we went to the movies to see Bolt. And this morning we all got together again for breakfast and playground time. It was so good to see Michelle! And the boys had so much fun together.

2008 was a grand year! And 2009 is shaping up to be more of the same. It was a fun day!
We lounged, we ran some errands. Then we headed up to the hike and bike trail to enjoy the beautiful weather and get in a nice walk.
Then we headed back home to celebrate Sophie’s first birthday, complete with a homemade party hat and a cornbread birthday “cake.” She loved it! And the rest of the cornbread muffins went wonderfully with the tortilla soup that had been stewing all day in our crock pot. YUM!
We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. And may you have many blessings, joys, and surprises in this new year.
