Who knew that when we signed Ben up for soccer a couple of months ago I would soon become a sponsor of the team and that Nathan would quickly be talked into becoming a coach?! Well, that’s the way it happened. And after a practice earlier in the week, getting their jerseys this morning, and their game earlier today, it is really sinking in that I’m a “soccer mom.”
Watching the game this morning, I had mixed feelings. They seemed so small and so young to be playing on a real team (yes, I still think of Ben as my baby). And yet, they seemed so grown up, playing as they did. And it was funny to watch, with all the kids just kind of chasing the ball around and with many kicking it in the wrong direction. And it was a blast, so much fun getting to cheer the team along.
The game went as follows: One teammate had experience from playing the year before. He knew exactly what to do and scored almost all of the goals for the team. Another boy also seemed to be very driven and experienced, scoring a couple of the goals. And Ben finally got his feet on the ball. He handled the ball well, getting it all the way down the field two different times. And one of the times resulted in a goal. He scored!!!
Can’t wait for the next game!
