D2X_9876I’m not sure that we could have packed more fun into the last couple of weeks if we had tried! Top this-

Last weekend we drove down to Port Aransas on Friday. We headed straight to the beach where we were met by my mom and dad. Right around the time for a delicious bbq dinner, Myk and Jenny rolled into town. Saturday morning was spent touring the island and checking out the gift shops. Then the entire day was spent on the beach with everyone. Saturday evening we had a fabulous fried shrimp dinner in Rockport. Sunday we spent the morning at the pool and then headed to my grandparents’ house for a visit, for a ride on their golf cart, and to pick corn from the fields. It was the BEST Mother’s Day weekend ever!

And this weekend we headed up to Fort Worth to stay with Larry and Debbie and to attend and participate in cousin Seth and Lora’s wedding (Nathan was a groomsman and Ben was the ring bearer!). Friday we made it into town just in time for the rehearsal and to go to the rehearsal dinner. All went beautifully, so we had high hopes for the actual wedding… and it did go very well! Nathan and Ben looked so handsome in their tuxes! And we were all so proud of Ben and Jayden for their graceful walk down the aisle together. Next we headed to the reception, where we had a great time. And the highlight of the evening? Ben got up on stage and performed “Life is a Highway” with the mic in hand! It was hilarious; he was wonderful!!!!!

What a fabulous couple of weekends!

D2X_0985Since Easter, we have been as “busy as bees!” Ben and I spent a morning at the zoo- enjoying the butterflies, watching the bugs, petting the goats, and feeding the lorikeets. We had a wonderful playdate with Mary, Morgan, Landon, and Robert, complete with a cooking project- the kids got to make their own pretzels. Ben and I joined our friends from church at a fun teddy bear picnic at the creek. And Nathan, Ben, and I had a great night of fun at the castle, complete with a round of putt-putt golf and sprint car racing.

We’ve also been very busy in the garden. The new herbs and flowers that we added are growing beautifully. And all of the veggies which we’re trying our hands at this year are looking good. Ben is so excited to peek in the garden every day to see what new things are popping up- from squash and zuccini to green beans and tomatoes.

And last, we’ve become a caterpillar hotel. In hopes of keeping my dill from getting eaten to the ground, we have taken in over twenty caterpillars to raise on some other of our other herbs. So far we’ve had several change into cocoons and have released four grown butterflies. It’s quite a process to watch! We found a website last night that identified them as swallowtail butterflies- click here to visit the site.
