Texas Andersons

The rains finally came, the Halloween decorations are in the stores, we’re starting to get busy with holiday portraits. Fall is here! Soon the temperature will start dropping, the leaves will change colors, and we’ll be making our holiday plans. Time keeps flying!

I guess the true marks of time are children’s birthdays… Robert just celebrated his first year with his mommy, daddy, and cake. And Morgan just had an awesome circus party to celebrate her fourth birthday, complete with cupcake-decorating, a pinata, trampoline-jumping, cake, and cotton candy!

We spent a wonderful Grandparents’ Day with my parents a couple of weeks ago. We took them to Fiesta Texas for an afternoon of enjoying rides with Ben. And to thank them for all the free babysitting and for being such fantastic grandparents, Ben gave them their first digital camera. It was such a treat to be able to do that for them! And we spent last weekend down south, down Corpus Christi-way. We had a great visit with my grandparents in Orange Grove. And then we spent a day at the beach in Port A, chasing Ben in and out of the water, helping him jump the waves, and joining him in his sand castle-building. It was a great way to end the summer.

August flew by like a whirlwind due to errands, housework, photo sessions, fantastic announcements, and fun activities! By the time I knew it, September was here and school had started. That is the official end of summer, when you start seeing those yellow school buses, right? Bummer.

There has certainly been no shortage of things to do around here since my last article. We attended our neighborhood’s National Night Out party. Then after we got the fantastic news that my dad got the first job in the hunting department of Bass Pro Shops, Nathan took cousin Melissa to a Rackspace open house which led to her changing jobs also. Nathan and I got to go out one night for a Racker’s going away party, to visit with Grant one more time before he left for the England office. Then Dad and Nathan spent a morning at the Texas Trophy Hunters convention. We all danced the night away at a Cibolo Nature Center concert. We walked in the Kendall County Fair’s Race for the Crown. Ben had his first wonderful week of Mother’s Day Out (I still can’t believe my baby’s in school!). And we just finished up a great Labor Day weekend- we spent Saturday morning involved in the parade, with a garden float complete with mushrooms, flowers, and fairies; that night we had everybody over for a delicious bar-b-q; Nathan and I got to go out to celebrate our anniversary (number six!); and today we spent a fun day at Fiesta Texas!

What a blast it’s all been. Luckily for us in Texas, even though school’s begun and we’re at the end of summer, we still have plenty of beautiful warm weather left.
