I find it funny how quickly each month goes by. While we get to spend most of the whirlwind as a family, enjoying activities together; we spend a lot of time caught up in day-to-day busy-ness. The part I find humorous is that even after looking back at how quickly our calendar filled up during the past months, we always think the next month will slow down- this has never happened!
The last couple of months have been no exception- we have been busy. We participated in the Race for the Cure to help raise money for breast cancer research and treatment; Ben and I started a playgroup with two of his friends from the library; we helped my parents move up from Corpus to Helotes; we attended cousin Brandon’s fourth birthday party; Ben participated in his first Easter egg hunt; we celebrated Nathan’s 29th birthday; we attended cousin Melissa’s graduation from UTSA; we made a trip down to Orange Grove to spend Mother’s Day with my family; and we just got back from a trip up to the Anderson cabin in West Texas with Nathan’s family.
And in all this time, Ben has changed tremendously. We think he gets smarter every day, building a vast vocabulary that he understands and adding more words that he can say. He is also becoming very sweet and friendly, giving hugs and kisses to the family and waving hi to almost everyone he sees. He keeps getting sillier, doing funny things that make us laugh throughout the day. And he is also becoming independent, starting to wander off from us to go play with a toy or read a book by himself. His favorite things to do these days is play outside in the yard and in the sandbox, read books, play hide-and-seek, and play with anything with wheels. He is still such a joy! As I keep telling everyone, if his personality now is any indication of what his personality is going to be in the future, I am going to have a big problem with laugh lines long before gray hairs.
